UA ACTivate and The University of Alabama maintain the authority to take action against residents and their guests who breach the following regulations: the University Code of Student Conduct, Housing and Residential Community Policies, Title IX & Sexual Misconduct guidelines, UA Crimson Compass policies, and any specific policies pertaining to UA ACTivate.
Offenses Resulting in Termination:
- Illegal Drugs: The possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs within the residential community or any property on campus (including vehicles) is strictly prohibited.
- Alcohol: The consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages by individuals under the legal drinking age or in unauthorized areas is not allowed.
- Prescription and Non-Prescription Medicine: The presence of any medication, whether prescription or non-prescription, not registered with UA ACTivate is considered a violation.
- Smoking: Smoking, including the use of vaping devices, is prohibited.
- Firearms: Possession of firearms, knives, tasers, or fireworks is strictly prohibited within the residential community or on campus.
- Unauthorized Possession: Residents found with illegal drugs, alcohol, unauthorized prescriptions or vaping devices in their room, personal possessions, vehicle, or on campus premises will be subject to disciplinary actions.
- Vandalism: Any act of vandalism or property damage within the residential community is a violation of policy.
- Unauthorized Room Entry: Entering an unauthorized room after curfew hours or before 7 a.m. is not allowed.
- Guest Policy Violation: Failure to adhere to the open-door policy for guests or hosting unauthorized guests in your room is considered an offense.
- Curfew Violation: Residents must comply with the curfew set by UA ACTivate and the City of Tuscaloosa.
- Student Conduct Code Referral: Any referral to the Student Conduct Code will be taken seriously.
- Theft: Theft of property within the residential community or on campus is prohibited.
- Absences: Unexcused absences from classes, campus events, and mandatory meetings with UA ACTivate or being out of the assigned area at any time will result in immediate dismissal.
- Disrespect: Disrespectful behavior towards any faculty or staff member of The University of Alabama is not tolerated.
- Violence and Intimidation: Engaging in fights, making threats, bullying or intimidating others for any reason is strictly prohibited.
Please note that these rules are subject to change, and residents are responsible for staying informed of any updates to the policies and regulations. Violations of these rules may result in sanctions, including eviction from the residential community, and may also lead to legal consequences.
Drug/Alcohol Use
All minor participants are prohibited from being under the influence of, bringing, consuming or having in possession in residence halls, or personal vehicles or program locations both on and off campus, any alcoholic beverage, narcotic drugs, marijuana, steroids or any mind-altering drugs or material, or controlled substance as defined by state statutes, unless dispensed by a licensed physician as allowed by law.
If drug or alcohol use is suspected:
- Report all such participants to the program coordinator who shall cooperate with the proper law enforcement agency (UAPD) and immediately notify the parent or guardian.
- Accept any suspected illegal substances surrendered by the participant and seal them in an envelope or bag in the presence of another program staff member with both persons verifying that the substance is contained in the sealed envelope or bag.
- Place the envelope or bag in which the substance is contained in the possession of a law enforcement authority in the presence of a witness.
- Accompany the participant until they are released into the custody of law enforcement or their parent/guardian.
